I have always found encounters with children and young people to be a great enrichment.
As a doctor, being able to contribute to their mental and physical health fills me with joy and gratitude. Based on decades of experience, I could and can recognize dangerous situations in good time and initiate the necessary therapy. On the other hand, it is important to me to dispel understandable, but often unfounded fears wherever possible.
Situations that are unpleasant for the child can usually be easily defused with targeted distraction, and a little joke has often dried a tear and even turned it into a smile.
I take time before and during the examination to create a relaxed, trusting atmosphere.
